Adams backed to end Ligue 1 goal drought

Montpellier forward Arnaud Nordin has backed Nigerian teammate Akor Adams who hasn’t found the back of the net in Ligue 1 since last October.

Since bagging a brace in Montpellier’s 3-0 win over Toulouse, he has failed to score in twelve consecutive appearances in the French topflight.

His form comes as a surprise because he started the season strongly, scoring seven goals in his first 10 games, and was looking like a contender for the Golden Boot with PSG star Kylian Mbappé.

Adam’s blistering start to life in France attracted the interest of West Ham and AC Milan but with his recent form, the 23-year-old might not be leaving Stade de la Mosson anytime soon.

Nordin believes Adams will discover his goal scoring form very soon.

In quotes relayed by Allezpaillade, the French forward said, “As you have seen, Akor has a lot of quality. It happens to a lot of attackers to have a slack period.

“I have complete confidence in him, he is someone who works a lot. So I think it will come back, he shouldn’t be totally focused on that, because it could make him thwart, but naturally, it will turn around and I will be the first happy for him as soon as he gives us goals.”

Montpellier will need Adams to rediscover his form as they seek to protect their top-flight status, they sit just outside the relegation zone due to goal difference at the moment.
