Lagos Creates 20 AFCON Live Viewing Centres

No fewer than 20 AFCON Live Viewing Centres have been created by the Lagos State Government as part of it efforts to continue propagating a healthy relationship, sense of belonging and bringing people together for a common a goal.

The 20 centres scattered across the state have been witnessing mammoth crowd, which began on Saturday, 13th ,January 2024, in a meeting between the hosts, Ivory Coast and Guinea Bissau.

LAGOSISSAGOAL initiative is an avenue provided for the residents to enjoy live matches of the 34th African Cup Of Nation ongoing in the republic of Coted d’voire.

Moreover, the state government erected gigantic TV size screen at the designated viewing centres for soccer lovers to give their support to the Super Eagles vying for the fourth AFCON title, with the aid of volunteers in a serene environment.

Surulere and Lagos Island are part of the centres designed to bring all the matches to the residents of Lagos and football lovers. Others are Yaba,Epe, Oworonshoki, Badagry, Ketu , Ajegunle, Alimosho, Agbado-Okeodo, Ojo, Festac, Ijegun, Agege, Mushin, Ikorodu, Ojokoro, Abesan, Igbobi-Sabe, and Lekki.

One of the viewers at the Surulere Centre, Egbulefu Ugochukwu commended the state government for the creation of the AFCON Live Viewing Centres.

He said, ‘’it is a good idea bringing people together enjoying the AFCON. Most people can be in their home enjoying it but when you come around with other people, you share ideas and knowledge. “I love the idea,I love the viewing centre”.

In the same vein, Ahmed Akinwale said Lagos AFCON viewing centre is very tremendous. “ The Lagos State government are doing a great job for the creation of centres across the state for the people to enjoy live matches playing in the republic of Ivory Coast”.

LAGOSISSAGOAL initiative will stand a test of time as people would see themselves as Nigerians and Lagosians,breaking the barrier of of ethnocentrism.
