‘They all wanted to fight me’, says Vinicius after destroying Barcelona
Real Madrid’s Supercopa hero Vinicius Jr has explained taunting Barcelona’s bench as his hat-trick sealed a comfortable Clasico final win on Sunday.
After Ronald Araujo was sent off late in the second half for a second bookable offence, the Brazilian winger was spotted taunting the Barca bench by telling them the score was 4-1. After the game, Vinicius was questioned by the media about the incident, where he claimed that he was not a saint but that he was there to learn to be better.
Speaking to the media, Vinicius said [via @Arancha Rodriguez on X]: “Everyone wants to fight me. I try my best to stay focused. I am not a saint. Sometimes I talk too much, sometimes I do dribbles that I don’t have to do and I want to learn. I’m here for that, to learn.”
Vinicius has an excellent record against Barcelona, he has faced the Catalan team 16 times and has emerged victorious nine times. Against Barca, he has six goals and two assists to his name. With the win, Real Madrid also opened up the gap between the two sides in terms of trophies won in history as the record now stands at 101 for Los Blancos to 99 for Barcelona.
Vinicius Jr will next be in action when Carlo Ancelotti’s men take on Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey round of 16 at the Wanda Metropolitano on Thursday, January 18.
