Kylian Mbappe agrees to sacrifice £69m for Liverpool move

Kylian Mbappe’s future is back in the spotlight after the Liverpool transfer target entered the final six months of his lucrative contract with Paris Saint-Germain

Kylian Mbappe has already agreed to forgo a loyalty bonus worth £69million to secure a more amicable exit from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, as Liverpool prepare to make their move.

Twenty-five-year-old Mbappe has just entered the final six months of his lucrative PSG contract which was only signed in 2022 after Parc des Princes chiefs managed to fend off strong interest from Real Madrid. At the beginning of this campaign, however, the Ligue 1 champions were left furious with Mbappe and axed him from their pre-season tour of Asia after the French superstar wrote to the club informing them that he wouldn’t be agreeing to sign-off a one-year extension, as PSG had previously expected him to do.

Despite the dispute, Mbappe was still rewarded with an 80 million euro loyalty bonus after he remained with the club beyond the closure of summer transfer window and was reintegrated into new manager Luis Enrique’s squad. Mbappe, though, waived the first instalment of that bonus and would be willing to forgo it completely should he leave Paris this summer.

Jurgen Klopp has already made Liverpool’s position on Kylian Mbappe transfer clear

Kylian Mbappe makes frank admission over future after Real Madrid set transfer deadline
Amid the complex financial developments, reported by Caught Offside, the France captain can now sign a pre-contract agreement with a new club and Liverpool hope to take advantage of his uncertain future. Spanish giants Real Madrid were long considered to be the most interested party but multiple reports over the winter have suggested that Jurgen Klopp’s Reds are now the frontrunners after holding previous discussions over a transfer.

“I talked to Liverpool because it’s the favourite club of my mum,” Mbappe told the Telegraph in 2022. “I don’t know why, you will have to ask her! It’s a good club and we met them five years ago. When I was in Monaco I met them. It’s a big club.”

He hasn’t ruled out staying in the French capital, though, with the former Monaco starlet declaring after PSG beat Toulouse 2-0 in the French Super Cup on Wednesday: “I’m very, very, very motivated for this year. It’s very important.

“As I said, we’ve got titles to go after and we’ve already won one, so that’s already done. After that, no, I haven’t made up my mind yet. But in any case, with the agreement I made with the chairman this summer, it doesn’t matter what I decide.

“We managed to protect all parties and preserve the club’’ serenity for the challenges ahead, which remains the most important thing. So we’ll say it’s secondary.”

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi heaped praise on Mbappe after his return to the squad – and the goals – in September, saying: “Kylian Mbappe is an incredible player and fantastic person. And the PSG team, on and off the field, has never been so united.”

Chelsea Back For In-form Osimhen With £62.5m deal, Details Emerge

What Happened At Victor Osimhen Galatasaray Unveiling, Details Emerge

Chelsea are continuing to be linked with a move for Victor Osimhen as the January transfer window moves ever closer.

The Blues have been credited with an interest in signing Osimhen for several transfer windows and made an attempt to bring the striker to Stamford Bridge last summer.

Osimhen and Napoli decided to part ways earlier this year, which led to the striker eventually completing a loan move to Galatasaray.

As part of the deal, there is reported to be a break clause that could be activated if an offer is made during the January transfer window. However, only 10 clubs are rumoured to be on the list of teams that could activate the clause, with Chelsea said to be one of them.

The move to Galatasaray also saw Osimhen reportedly have his release clause lowered from more than £100million to around £62.5million. It remains to be seen, though, if Chelsea will look to try and sign the Nigeria international when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.

Since moving to Turkey, Osimhen has scored eight goals with four assists across nine appearances for Galatasaray and continues to be linked with a transfer to a new club in January, with Chelsea mentioned as a potential destination.

Should the Blues try to sign Osimhen in the New Year, there are several squad number options that could be given to the striker. Namely, the No.9 shirt is available to new signings, having previously been worn by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang until the end of the 2022/23 season.

There are several other options that Chelsea could choose to give Osimhen as his squad number should a move to Stamford Bridge happen.

Premier League Clubs ‘Eyeing Up Former Man United Star Paul Pogba’

Premier League Clubs 'Eyeing Up Former Man United Star Paul Pogba'

Paul Pogba is reportedly the target of growing interest from Premier League sides, as the French midfielder continues talks to end his contract with Juventus.

The 31-year-old swapped Manchester United for Turin in 2022 after a tumultuous stint which saw him play for the club 233 times and score 39 goals.

He had arrived at Old Trafford in 2016 for a world-record £89m fee but failed to meet lofty expectations and fall-outs with a string of managers meant his future was uncertain for his last three years at the side.

A year after his move to Juventus, Pogba was hit with a four-year doping ban after a drugs test found increased levels of testosterone in his system. The star was handed a lifeline last month when the Court of Arbitration for Sport reduced the sanction from four years to 18 months following an appeal, meaning he can return in March.

The Italian side are expected to terminate Pogba’s contract regardless and clubs from the MLS, Saudi Arabia, and the Premier League are among those showing interest in giving him a platform for a comeback, Sky Sports reports.

The Frenchman’s current deal was due to run until summer 2026 but exiting his contract would mean he is free to talk to other teams about a move, with Marseille emerging as a frontrunner last month.

Juventus have engaged in early discussions with representatives from the French side, including sporting director and former defender Medhi Benatia. Official negotiations are not believed to have started yet.

The 31-year-old’s career looked to be finished after he was slapped with a four-year ban in February but this week’s reprieve has given him a second chance.

The suspension, which began in September 2023, will now end next March, with the midfielder able to train from January.

In CAS’ final judgement it was confirmed that Pogba did inadvertently take DHEA, a substance that boosts testosterone that is on WADA’s banned list.

Crucially, however, the ruling states that DHEA only has an affect on females.

Pogba’s appeal took place at CAS’ HQ in Switzerland at the end of August and the player has only recently been informed of the verdict.

The French World Cup winner later released a statement in which he celebrated the end of ‘the nightmare’.

Victor Osimhen To Man United? Ruben Amorin Told To Sign Nigerian Goal-Getter

Victor Osimhen To Man United? Ruben Amorin Told To Sign Nigerian Goal-Getter

ESPN pundit Luis Miguel Echegaray does not think Rasmus Højlund is a 20-goal-a-season striker and has advised Manchester United’s incoming coach Rúben Amorim to sign a much bigger name center forward in the mould of Victor Osimhen.

Højlund joined Manchester United from Atalanta in August 2023, signing a five-year deal, with the option of a further year.

Since making his Reds debut in September 2023, the Denmark international has scored 18 goals in 55 games across all competitions, almost a goal every three games, statistically suggesting that he’s not the player to take Manchester United to the promised land.

Luis Miguel Echegaray feels the Scandinavian player is not the answer to United’s goalscoring issues, and has urged the club to bring in a marquee center forward.

Manchester United scored 57 goals in the 2023-2024 Premier League season, the fewest goals among the teams finishing in the top half of the table.

Manchester United were heavily linked with Osimhen before the capture of Højlund but it is believed the Old Trafford side were priced out of a move, with Napoli valuing the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup winner at 130 million euros.

Echegaray has criticized United for passing up the opportunity to sign Osimhen and Aston Villa’s England international Ollie Watkins.

Speaking on ESPN FC Live, he said: “There’s no denying his talent but the biggest criticism of United from my side, leaving aside Erik ten Hag, leaving aside the management, is the recruitment.

“You had options to go into players like Victor Osimhen, even try to target someone like Ollie Watkins but you said no, I’m going to scout somebody else, I’m going to go in another direction.

“There’s no denying the talent of Højlund but is he going to be your main guy, that’s up to Rúben Amorim to decide but in my opinion the next step for United is to find a striker that can really echo and imitate everything that is being produced going forward.”

Osimhen has gotten off to a blistering start at Galatasaray, registering 12 goal involvements (8 goals, 4 assists) in 8 matches.
