The Director General, Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC), Oluwatoyin Gafaar, has reiterated that the Commission would continue to leverage on the existing development of sports, prioritize “Girl-Child” education and provide a serene environment for athletes to thrive.
As the year winds down, the Sports Commission engaged in a week-long sporting activities and medical screening for members of staff to celebrate and deepened the relationship.

The champions were decorated with the big trophy received by the captain of the team, Nkechi Odibeli by the Director General, Oluwatoyin Gafaar, at the grand party held at Volleyball Court of Teslim Balogun Stadium Surulere, Lagos.
While reeling out the plans for the Year 2024, Gafaar, a sports administrator per excellence, lauded the administration led by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for investing heavily in sports infrastructure, adding that in the first month of the new year, the facilities receiving facelift will be delivered.
“We have to give a big thank you to Mr. Governor for always been at our aid to show courage and love to our children. Sports is about youth engagement in line with the THEMES Plus agenda which include Girl-Child education, youth and everybody.
“The roadmap is to have facilities to develop and expand the activities of the youth of Lagos. That’s our target; to have our children, and younger ones where they can channel their energy. And energy channelization is infrastructural development and that’s what we are embarking on.”
Speaking further, Gafaar said the state will not rest on it oars in engaging the athletes in preparation for the forthcoming “Gateway Games” National Sports Festival in Ogun State.
“What we have been doing is engaging our athletes in developmental programmes and initiatives, supporting their progress in national and international tournaments and the state will not relent in its efforts towards preparations and determinations to succeed”, Oluwatoyin Gafaar said.
