Ahead of the 2nd edition of the annual Ifeanyi Chiejiene Memorial football tournament packaged and sponsored by Judith Chime Foundation, which is named after its founder, a former Super Falcons goalkeeper, Judith Chime, football administrators, and stakeholders have been charged by leading sports advocate group, Friends Of Nigeria Sports (FNS), to lend supports to the annual event.
In a press release, the National Coordinator of FNS, Chief Dipreiye Thompson, tasked all genuinely concerned football stakeholders, administrators, organisations and well-placed football enthusiasts to support the Judith Chime Foundation, in its selfless and remarkable efforts in ensuring that the fond memories of Ifeanyi Chiejiene, who was the youngest ever Nigerian and African female footballer to have participated in the FIFA Senior Women’s World Cup, at the age of 16 years, does not go with the winds.
“On behalf of Friends Of Nigeria Sports, I want to commend the laudable efforts of our former Super Falcons goalkeeper, Judith Chime, towards ensuring that the fond memories and legacies of Ifeanyi Chiejiene, remain evergreen in our minds.
“As the foundation gets set for the second edition coming in December, I implore every one of us to give the event moral and financial support. It’s time we stop rhetorics and start supporting credible projects like this tournament,” Thompson appealed passionately.
