Enzo Fernandez in fitness race ahead Man City clash
Enzo Fernandez has eased fears that he had suffered an injury with an update on his fitness ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Manchester City on Sunday.
The Argentine midfielder was withdrawn after 58 minutes by Mauricio Pochettino against Tottenham on Monday night.
Mykhailo Mudryk replaced Fernandez as Chelsea looked to make the most of their two-man advantage over Spurs. However, this led to many fans fearing that the World Cup winner had picked up an issue.
Fernandez was left out of the squad that suffered a 2-0 defeat against Brentford at Stamford Bridge after picking up a minor injury. The 22-year-old returned to face Spurs, but failed to complete 90 minutes for the first time this season when having started in the Premier League.
In a post on Instagram, Fernandez wrote: “Thank you all for your messages. I am good, working in my recovery to get to the weekend in the best way blue heart emoji.”
Pochettino’s side come up against City this weekend as they look to pick up back-to-back wins for the second time this season. The Blues moved into the top-half of the Premier League table with their win against Spurs – helping City stay one point above Ange Postecoglou’s side.
