Ismael Sadjo, Deborah Pan Win Ikoyi 10km Race
Cross River State’s Ishmael Sadjo made history once more at the Ikoyi 10km road event, part of the fifth Community Marathon Series, which was held in Ikoyi last weekend on October 28, 2023.
In the 30-minute, 57-second male category, Sadjo broke the tape first, and in the 37-minute, 55-second female category, Deborah Pan of Plateau State won.
The two elite runners, Sadjo and Deborah, gained the lead at the two-kilometer mark and held on to win N250, 000 in cash each.
Paul James took first place as the male category runner-up, followed by Emmanuel Gyang in second place.
Elizabeth Nuhu Power and Comfort James of Plateau State took second and third place among the women.
A medical team from Euracare Hospital, Sports Assist Medical Services Ltd., and the Nigeria Red Cross provided care to a few of the athletes who experienced tiredness during and after the event.
In addition to aerobics, a 5-kilometer fitness walk was scheduled as part of the fitness routine.
Members of the Wakaba community participated in the fitness walk, which was led by Mr. Lorenzo Mba. I-Fitness organized aerobics as an additional aspect of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Moses Nwanze, the project director of the Marathon Series, congratulated all the participants who signed up for the Ikoyi race and urged everyone to enroll in a fitness class and regular training for future competitions
Amstel Malta Ultra and MKH Group provided sponsorship for the race.
Other brands, such as Multichoice, Cool FM, Wazobia FM, and Nigeria Info, also supported the event as official media sponsors.
