Taraba State set to host Beach Volleyball (2nd phase) Tour
All is set for the second phase of the 2023 Beach Volleyball Star Tour/Tour in Jalingo, Taraba state.
According to the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, over 35 teams will battle on the sand from 28th October to 5th November at the Jolly Nyame Stadium.
North East Zonal Representative on the board of NVBF, DCP Stephen Hasso (RTD) said the 10-day beach tour is a key event on the federation’s calendar given the weight of international commitments that the country is committed to later in the year.
Hasso explained that the tour will serve as a training tour for the National U21 players preparing for the World Beach Volleyball Championship in Thailand next November.
He said, “The Beach Tour will commence on Saturday (today) and I am happy to announce that more than 35 teams will participate in the second phase. If you look at the FIVB calendar, we have some international championships and this will serve as a training tour for our players going for the World Championship in Thailand”.
Hasso lauded Taraba State Government led by Dr Agbu Kefas for supporting the NVBF in hosting the beach tour.
He said, “Taraba State is the new home of beach volleyball. Governor Agbu Kefas has shown desire to develop volleyball and other sports in the state”.
National Coaches, Francis Imoudu and John Iwerima will be on ground to watch the event and perhaps extend trial invites to deserving players for subsequent national camp.
