The place of a foundation in an existing structure cannot be taken for granted for any reason if success-driven goals are to be attained.
Plateau United General Manager, Habila Hosea Mutla said this when he received a high powered delegation of plateau United’s veteran players in his office in Jos.
According to Mutla, the place of ex-players or veterans cannot be underestimated in the building process which explains why a number of ex-players have been recruited in various capacities as coaches and managerial roles.
The ex- banker and now Plateau United General manager recommended the establishment and reservation of a Plateau United Veterans stand on match days at the stadium, proper documentation of their history , and a bigger need to incorporate them in the scheme of club activities and functions amongst other key submissions.
Habila Mutla said but for the paucity of resources, ex-players should have been placed on pension benefits with more emphasis on players who retired playing for the club instead.
However, he promised to continue to engage the veterans, partner with them and seek ways to better their welfare needs amidst promise of a planned dinner with the club’s legends where replica jerseys marking their names will be celebrated soon.
Auwalu Adamu, also known as Auwalu Killer, Shola Popo, Ogharanduku Tony who is fondly called Okro and Abdulrauf Jimoh made key contributions amongst others with commendations directed towards Plateau United’s current management’s resolve to toe the progressive line.
They also called for the need to engage their various levels of expertise for club functions and development.
The historic meeting peaked with a group photograph establishing the new found synergy between the club’s key stakeholders.
