Romelu Lukaku’s journey to Rome becomes the most tracked flight ever

A record number of people tracked Romelu Lukaku’s flight to Rome amid his proposed transfer to AS Roma from Chelsea.

Lukaku is on the verge of completing his move away from Stamford Bridge, having been linked with the likes of Juventus, Inter Milan and Tottenham this summer.

He’s set to sign for Jose Mourinho’s Roma on a season-long loan after being deemed surplus to requirements by Mauricio Pochettino.

The forward has agreed to drop his wages by a third to join I Giallorossi and the Blues won’t pay a single penny of his salary this season.

After enjoying two prolific spells in Serie A with Inter, the 30-year-old is closing in on a return to Italy’s top flight for the 2023/24 campaign.

And Roma fans are seemingly very excited with the addition of the Belgium international. Well, that’s judging by the statistics on flight radar.

According to Cronache di spogliatoio, a staggering 47,300 people tracked Lukaku’s flight to Rome – that’s a record for the most tracked flight ever on flight radar.

He landed in Rome on Tuesday as Roma supporters welcomed him at the airport in wild scenes.

Incredibly, the plane was also piloted by the club’s president Dan Friedkin.

Lukaku’s move to Roma will be formally completed and signed on Wednesday, per Fabrizio Romano.

He’ll once again play under Mourinho, having played together at Chelsea and Manchester United.

Lukaku scored 64 goals in 95 matches in all competitions during his first stint at Inter. He bagged 14 goals last season while on loan at the San Siro outfit.
