Chairman House Committee on Sports Honourable Ekene Adams has assured the Nigeria Professional Football League Club Owners of his total support in a bid to revamp the Nigeria topflight League.
The Chairman gave the assurance on Tuesday when the NPFL Club Owners paid him a courtesy visit at the National Assembly.
The Chairman, who is also a well-known football administrator before his Election into the House of Representatives opined that the trajectory of the league must change so that the domestic league can reach its full potential.
“One thing I will assure every one of you is my total support and commitment to the Development of the league.
“For me, this is one area I am very passionate about because of my background and so I will be available at any time to render my support and advice,” he said.
Honourable Ekene said the League must be revived to attract football fans and sponsors, stressing that this is the only way the Nigeria League can begin to have a resemblance of the top leagues in the World.
“In England, people don’t speak about the FA but the Premier League, in Spain, Nobody mentions the Spanish FA but the Laliga, same thing in Germany, people don’t speak about the FA but the Bundesliga.”
“Nigerians want to see a brand new league where things are done properly and clubs can adequately fly their teams to venues,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the new leadership of the Nigeria Professional Football League club Owners Okey Kpalukwu expressed confidence that the league is on a new path under the current leadership of Honourable Ekene Adams as the Chairman House Committee on Sports.
“We are very excited that the leadership of the House found you worthy to be the Chairman of this Committee and as club owners we are very open to working with you our joy is that the league will benefit immensely from your experience and expertise,” he said.
