Chelsea are looking to spend around £170million on three central midfielders in the coming days which would bring their summer spending total up to a whopping £350m
Chelsea are closing in on a stunning £170m triple swoop for Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia and Tyler Adams to bolster their midfield ahead of the new season.
The Blues submitted a £48m bid for Lavia on Wednesday night in an attempt to hijack Liverpool’s move for the Southampton youngster amid ongoing talks with Brighton over a mega-money move for Caicedo and reports linking them with Leeds ace Adams.
It’s understood the club want to sign all three players and aren’t using either Lavia or Adams as back-up options if negotiations for Caicedo break down.
Having lost N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek all in the space of a few months this year, Chelsea are noticeably light in central midfield and Mauricio Pochettino wants to reinforce his squad as much as possible before the transfer window shuts.
Brighton have outright rejected Chelsea’s three opening bids for Caicedo, but talks have progressed significantly in the past few days and the west Londoners now hope to have a deal wrapped up before their Premier League opener against Liverpool on Sunday.
The Ecuadorian has been their number one transfer target all summer and is expected to cost them around £100m. Southampton meanwhile are holding out for £50m for Lavia, while Adams has a £20m relegation release clause in his contract.
