Chukwueze to Milan: Details of €28m move from Villareal
AC Milan have got a deal for Samuel Chukwueze over the line and he should soon arrive to undergo his medical, according to Fabrizio Romano.
After weeks of negotiating between Milan and Villarreal, Chukwueze has finally been given ‘here we go’ status by the journalist. The relevant documents are being exchanged and checked by the two sides, meaning it is only a matter of time.
Chukwueze will sign a long-term contract this week – valid until June 2028 – while the Rossoneri management have agreed a fee around €20m plus €8m in bonuses with their Spanish counterparts.
The Nigerian winger has a medical booked for later this week, after which he will sign his five-year contract and then will head out to the United States to join his team-mates on their preseason tour.
Milan have been in the market for a new right winger this summer and Chukwueze has always been the first choice, given he amassed 13 goals and 11 assists in all competitions last season for the Yellow Submarine.
The Rossoneri arrived on the west coast of the United States on July 21, where they’ll stay until August 2. The club faced Real Madrid in a friendly on July 23, which they lost 3-2, and are scheduled to face Juventus on July 27 and Barcelona on August 1.
In the meantime, Milan are working on securing their seventh signing of the summer transfer window, picking up Samuel Chukwueze from Villarreal in a deal worth around €28m total. The final details are being resolved and he’s expected to land in the Lombardy capital at some point this week.
As reported by TMW, Chukwueze will officially join Milan this week but will not head to the US to join the squad for the pre-season tour.
The reasons are mostly bureaucratic, due to the difficulties of obtaining the necessary permits for him to join his teammates in such a short span of time.
As such, Chukwueze will start training at Milanello, waiting for Pioli and his players to return to Italy on August 2.
