Fans are urging PSG to cut ties with Kylian Mbappe following news the club are planning to offer him a 10-year contract worth £1billion, according to reports in Spain.

Mbappe, whose contract at the Parc des Princes expires next year, is at a crossroads after being told he’ll be sold this summer if he doesn’t extend his deal.

Real Madrid are long-term admirers of the 24-year-old, and vice versa, but PSG are hoping to end the ‘will they/won’t they?’ narrative once and for all by offering their superstar a record-blitzing contract that would see him rake in around £2m-a-week.

The news was met with universal groans from supporters on social media, with one tweeting: “If this is true this is the saddest thing a club has ever done.”

“They have sold their soul to Mbappe lol,” commented another. “Mbappe is the biggest con artist of all time,” said a third, while a third added: “Enough is enough. This man just needs to leave.”

Another said: “PSG need to bin Mbappe off. He’s sucking the life out the club and this whole transfer saga to Real Madrid won’t end because he’s signed a contract. It’ll keep happening. Get rid.”

It’s claimed by Defensacentral.com the Emir of Qatar himself, who is also PSG’s owner, has green-lit the deal, which will be the biggest in sporting history should Mbappe sign it. If he doesn’t, the Ligue 1 giants will look to sell him in the coming weeks to avoid losing him for free next summer.

Even with his contract running down, Mbappe is still expected to fetch a hefty price should PSG decide to sell. The Frenchman joined from Monaco for around £160m and PSG are likely to demand at least that before coming to the negotiating table.

For context, Harry Kane, who is entering the final year of his contract at Tottenham, isn’t expected to leave for less than £80m, while Eden Hazard, who joined Real Madrid in 2019 with 12 months left on his Chelsea contract, cost £100m.

With Mbappe’s prime years still ahead of him, PSG may even insist on a world-record transfer, but right now the only world-record deal they’re interested in is one that will keep him at the club for the foreseeable.
