Yamal’s Father Calls For Unity After Racist Chants Mar Spain vs Egypt Clash

A Night Overshadowed By Ugly Scenes

What should have been a routine international friendly turned into a moment of reflection for football.

The clash between Spain national football team and Egypt national football team ended 0-0 — but the real story came from the stands.

Offensive chants targeting Muslims echoed around the stadium, casting a dark cloud over the game.

The Incident That Sparked Outrage

During the match at the RCDE Stadium, sections of the crowd repeatedly chanted:

“Whoever doesn’t jump is a Muslim.”

What may have been framed by some as “banter” quickly crossed into something far more serious — disrespect and discrimination.

Spanish authorities, including the football federation and government bodies, were quick to condemn the behavior.

A Father’s Calm But Powerful Response

Amid the noise, Munir Nasraoui — father of Lamine Yamal — chose a different tone.

Speaking during a live Instagram session, he delivered a message rooted in unity, not anger:

“Long live Spain, long live Muslims, Christians and Jews… long live everyone equally. What’s your problem?”

It wasn’t just a response — it was a statement.

A reminder that football, and society, is bigger than division.

Yamal Speaks Out Too

The young Barcelona star didn’t stay silent either.

While acknowledging the chants weren’t directly aimed at him, he made it clear they were unacceptable.

“I am a Muslim, praise be to God… that is considered disrespectful and unacceptable behaviour.”

For an 18-year-old carrying both talent and cultural identity on a global stage, it was a mature and firm stance.

Respect Is The Message

Munir ended his remarks with a line that says everything:

“If you show respect, you will be respected.”

Simple. Direct. Necessary.

Final Whistle

Football has always been a unifying force — but moments like this test that idea.

The response from Yamal and his father shows the way forward: not silence, not aggression — but clarity, dignity, and a call for respect.

Because beyond the goals, rivalries, and results…

Humanity still comes first.
