Akor Adams has admitted he is not fully satisfied with his performance despite scoring in Sevilla FC’s 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano in La Liga.
The Nigerian forward ended a five-game goal drought during Sunday’s clash, but the result meant Sevilla failed to climb further up the league table.
Adams Breaks Goal Drought
Adams opened the scoring in the match to give Sevilla the lead and bring an end to his recent run without a goal.
However, the visitors managed to find an equaliser later in the game, forcing Sevilla to settle for a point at home.
Speaking after the match via Sevilla’s official media channels, the striker acknowledged that while the point is important, there is still room for improvement.
“I think every point is important at this stage of the season. We work hard to get them. We got a point, but there are many things to work on and improve to reach our goal of three points.”
Taking Responsibility For Missed Chances
Despite getting on the scoresheet, Adams admitted he could have done more to help his team secure victory.
The striker acknowledged that several chances during the game could have been converted to give Sevilla a crucial win.
“Yes, we’re happy to have gotten a point, but not entirely, because I also take responsibility. There were many situations that could have put us ahead.”
He added that the team will continue to work on improving their efficiency in front of goal.
Team Success Comes First
While goals are an important part of his role, Adams emphasized that the team’s results matter far more than his personal statistics.
The striker made it clear that he values collective success over individual achievements.
“For me, the most important thing is to win with Sevilla. I work hard every day to win matches.”
He also highlighted the importance of teamwork in the attacking unit.
“Scoring goals is my job, but at this stage of the season it doesn’t matter if Kike scores or if Lucien scores. In the end, we’re a team.”
A Solid Season But More To Come
Adams’ goal against Rayo Vallecano took his tally to seven league goals in 22 appearances, alongside three assists, underlining his importance to Sevilla’s attack this season.
However, the Nigerian international believes he should have contributed even more.
“Seven goals… I think I should have scored more. I’m grateful to God, but I’m not satisfied right now.”
For Adams, the focus remains simple: improve his finishing, help Sevilla collect more points, and push the club higher up the La Liga table.
