Man City Title Hopes Suffer Blow After 2-2 Draw with Nottingham Forest

Manchester City F.C. suffered a major setback in the Premier League title race after being held to a 2-2 draw by Nottingham Forest F.C. at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.

The result leaves City seven points behind league leaders Arsenal F.C., who strengthened their grip at the top of the table with a victory over Brighton & Hove Albion F.C..

Semenyo Fires City Ahead

Under the guidance of Pep Guardiola, City dominated possession from the start, forcing Forest to defend deep inside their own half.

Despite controlling the game early on, clear chances were limited until just past the half-hour mark when Antoine Semenyo broke the deadlock.

The forward produced an acrobatic finish from a cross delivered by Rayan Cherki, giving the home side a deserved lead.

City nearly doubled their advantage shortly afterward when Semenyo sent a brilliant low cross into the box, but Erling Haaland failed to connect as the hosts entered halftime with a narrow lead.

Forest Fight Back

Forest responded strongly in the second half and stunned the Etihad crowd when Morgan Gibbs-White produced a clever backheel finish after a header from Igor Jesus fell kindly in the box.

City regained the lead soon after when Ballon d’Or winner Rodri powered in a header from a corner delivered by Rayan Aït-Nouri.

However, Forest refused to give up and equalised again in the 76th minute through Elliot Anderson.

Late Drama Denies City

City pushed hard for a late winner and almost found it with the final kick of the game when Bernardo Silva fired a goal-bound effort.

But defender Murillo produced a crucial goal-line clearance to preserve Forest’s point.

The draw leaves City with ground to make up in the title race, while Arsenal remain firmly in control at the top of the Premier League table.
