Victor Osimhen celebrating a goal for Galatasaray in the 2025/26 Super Lig
Former Turkey international and Galatasaray legend Hasan Sas has praised Victor Osimhen and his teammates for demonstrating a champion mindset as the 2025/26 Turkish Super Lig title race heats up.
Galatasaray currently lead the table with 50 points after 21 matches, narrowly edging out rivals Fenerbahce and Trabzonspor. A dominant 3-0 victory over Caykur Rizespor last weekend showcased their quality, but the pressure remains intense as the season enters its final stretch.
Sas highlighted a defining moment from the Rizespor clash that illustrates the team’s mentality. Early in the match, Osimhen missed a clear scoring chance, a moment that might typically unsettle a squad. However, the Galatasaray players showed no panic.
“When the score was 1-0, Victor Osimhen missed a chance, but I didn’t see any panic among the players,” Sas said.
“I don’t see an air of ‘we won’t win this match’ among the players, and that’s the championship reflex.”
True to that mindset, Osimhen bounced back. In the 73rd minute, he received a precise pass from Noa Lang, skillfully maneuvered past goalkeeper Fofana, and calmly finished from a tight angle to seal a 3-0 victory.
The Nigerian striker’s goal took his tally to 15 in all competitions this season. He has scored in five consecutive league matches, showcasing an unstoppable form that Galatasaray will be relying on as they push for back-to-back Super Lig titles.
Sas’ praise reflects not just individual brilliance but also the collective composure and championship mentality embedded within Okan Buruk’s squad—a crucial factor as the race for the Turkish crown reaches its climax.
