Paul Onuachu Beats Osimhen To Baller Of The Week After Nigerian Goal-Fest In Turkey

The Turkish Super Lig was lit up by Nigerian firepower this weekend, but when the dust settled, it was Paul Onuachu who stood tallest — quite literally.

The Trabzonspor striker has been crowned Baller of the Week, edging out fellow Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen after a sensational round of performances by Nigerian forwards in Turkey.

Onuachu Towers Above The Rest

Standing at 6’7”, Paul Onuachu delivered a dominant display as Trabzonspor cruised to a 3-0 victory over Samsunspor on Saturday.

The Nigerian forward struck twice — first with a trademark towering header in the 23rd minute, then a calm, clinical finish late in the game to seal all three points.

Those goals pushed Onuachu’s league tally to 15 goals, placing him among Europe’s most prolific scorers this season and underlining his importance to Trabzonspor’s title push.

Beyond the goals, his all-round performance stood out:

  • Most chances created in the match (2)

  • Two key passes

  • 88% pass accuracy

  • 2 of 3 successful dribbles

  • 100% long-ball completion

A complete striker’s performance — powerful, intelligent, and ruthless.

Osimhen Keeps The Pressure On

Victor Osimhen wasn’t far behind.

The Galatasaray striker found the net in a 3-0 away win against Rizespor, scoring the third goal in the 73rd minute to take his league tally to nine goals.

His strike helped Galatasaray extend their lead at the top of the table to six points, keeping their title charge firmly on track.

The contrast between both forwards adds spice to the Super Lig Golden Boot race — Onuachu’s aerial dominance and strength versus Osimhen’s pace, movement, and explosiveness.

Mixed Fortunes For Naija Stars Abroad

It was a weekend of varied outcomes for other Nigerian internationals across Europe.

In La Liga, Ademola Lookman endured a frustrating afternoon as Atletico Madrid fell 1-0 to Real Betis. The winger had a goal ruled out for offside despite heavy involvement, coming off the back of a brilliant Copa del Rey debut days earlier.

At Sevilla, Akor Adams remained unused until the 74th minute in a 1-1 draw with Girona, while Chidera Ejuke featured from the bench.

In the Premier League, Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze were involved as Fulham suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Everton, with Calvin Bassey an unused substitute.
Ola Aina also featured as Nottingham Forest lost to Leeds United.

There was a debut for Frank Onyeka, who featured for Coventry City in a 0-0 draw with Oxford United.

A bright moment came in the Championship, where Bright Osayi-Samuel came off the bench to help Birmingham City secure a 2-1 win over Joe Aribo’s Leicester City.

Naija Presence Still Loud Across Europe

From Turkey to England and Spain, Nigerian footballers continue to leave their mark across Europe’s top leagues.

But this weekend belonged to Paul Onuachu — dominant, decisive, and deserving of the spotlight.
