Luka Doncic celebrates after scoring against the Chicago Bulls for the Los Angeles Lakers
Luka Doncic delivered another reminder of his superstar status, erupting for 46 points as the Los Angeles Lakers secured a commanding 129–118 victory over the Chicago Bulls at the United Center.
The Slovenian guard was simply unplayable, draining eight three-pointers, while also contributing 12 assists and seven rebounds to snap Chicago’s four-game unbeaten streak in emphatic fashion.
With his latest scoring explosion, Doncic reached a major milestone — becoming the fastest player in Lakers history to score 2,000 points, achieving the feat in just 65 games since his blockbuster trade from the Dallas Mavericks last February.
At just 26 years old, Doncic continues to rewrite record books. This was his fourth straight game with 30+ points, and he currently leads the NBA scoring charts with a staggering 33.8 points per game.
In doing so, he joined an elite club, becoming only the second player in Lakers history, alongside Kobe Bryant, to record 45+ points, 10+ assists, and five or more three-pointers in a single game.
While Doncic stole the spotlight, he wasn’t alone.
LeBron James added 24 points, five rebounds, and three assists, while Rui Hachimura chipped in 23 points off the bench, giving the Lakers the depth and balance needed to close out the contest comfortably.
The Bulls struggled to contain the Lakers’ offensive rhythm, especially once Doncic began pulling defenders out of position with his shooting range and playmaking vision.
Despite the historic night, Lakers head coach JJ Redick admitted that coaching Doncic is not always stress-free.
“He’s an engine that’s fully on and he likes to create out there — and that’s part of what makes him a great player,” Redick said after the game.
“Because I played with him, I understand it pretty well — not to say it doesn’t test your patience at times. You have to live with some of the things he tries, because more often than not, you’ll get a great result.”
And once again, the result was undeniable.
As the Lakers continue their push for playoff positioning, Doncic looks completely locked in — confident, creative, and ruthless. With performances like this becoming routine, the rest of the league is quickly running out of answers.
If this is Luka Doncic in full flow, Los Angeles might just be watching another legendary chapter unfold.
