Run For Asiwaju Mini Marathon: Orile-Agege Council Boss, Lawmaker Commend Participants For Successful Outing
Orile-Agege Council Boss, Idowu Akinola, has heaped praises on the participants who took part at the Run for Asiwaju 2027 Mini Marathon, which was held on Sunday morning in Agege, Lagos.
Over 700 runners from various categories took part in the Marathon powered by Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Honourable Mudashiru Obasa.
In a chat with Journalists, the council boss expressed satisfaction with the number of participants that took part in the marathon noted that the one-day event was organised to galvanise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the next presidential elections.
“I am happy that the marathon has recorded a huge success in area of organisation and attendance. Our youths came out in large number to showcase their talents, and this is to tell you that the marathon has positive impacts on our youths and residents of Agege.
“Like I said earlier the essence of this marathon is to mobilise support for our party National Leader,the Father of the Nation, President Bola Tinubu in the next presidential elections.And I commend the planning committee for the success of the sporting event,”he said
He however reminded the youths and residents of Agege that APC party registration is ongoing and urged them to register with the party in their various wards.
He stated that the present administration is working hard to reduce the suffering of the masses and ensure that more youths would be given a chance in the government if APC remains in power beyond 2027.
Also speaking,a member of Lagos State House of Assembly representing Agege constituency II,Abdulkareem Jubreel shared the sentiment of the council boss saying that the essence of the marathon is to allow the youths and residents of Agege to give their support to Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu in the next presidential election.
He also admonished the residents of Agege and Lagos at large to take advantage of the ongoing party registration so that the party would come out victorious in the next elections.
Meanwhile all the runners were given sum of N10,000 as the winners in each category received the sum of N50,000.
Abeeb Tunmise Precious who emerged a winner in the professional category expressed gratitude to God for being emerged as champion.
“I am happy for my successful outing. My preparation towards the marathon was top-notch and winning the marathon was as a result of hardworking and commitment throughout my preparation,” she said.
While speaking with the journalists, chairman Orile-Agege Sports Committee, Dipo Liadi said the marathon was a huge success but identified challenges confronted before and during the marathon.
He also commended the committee members for their commitment and dedication for working round the clock to ensure that the marathon record a huge success.
“I thank God for the success of the marathon because the committee members did a good job and I am happy that it was a hitch free sporting event at the end of the day. I congratulate all the participants who participated in the marathon and I believe that the next edition would be better organised,”he said.
