Manchester United fans call for Enzo Maresca after Ruben Amorim sacking
Manchester United fans have wasted no time making their voices heard following the shock sacking of Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese manager’s tenure at Old Trafford came to an abrupt end after publicly criticising the club’s leadership, insisting he was the manager and not just the head coach — comments that reportedly strained relations with the board.
Following the dismissal, Darren Fletcher, club legend and current Under-18s coach, has been appointed interim manager until the end of the season. Fletcher is set to take charge in Wednesday’s Premier League clash against Burnley, as the Red Devils look to steady the ship.
Despite the interim solution, a growing chorus of fans has taken to social media, urging the club to appoint former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca immediately.
Supporters believe Maresca could inject fresh energy into the squad and shake up a team struggling for consistency. As reported by Sky Sports, fans were quick with their suggestions:
“Get Maresca in for the rest of the season!” one fan wrote. “You’re living in cuckoo land if you don’t!”
Another added, “Could be a bold move, might shake things up mid-season.”
“It’s a gamble, but sometimes that’s what you need at Old Trafford,” commented a third.
“Maresca’s fresh approach could bring something new. Worth considering if things don’t improve,” wrote another fan.
The calls highlight the appetite among supporters for a manager capable of asserting authority while delivering results in a high-pressure environment.
For now, Fletcher remains in charge, facing the challenge of steadying a Red Devils side currently sitting mid-table in the Premier League. His first test comes immediately against Burnley, where fans will be watching closely to see if he can stabilize performances before the club makes a long-term managerial decision.
Manchester United’s owners are yet to comment on the fan-led push for Maresca, but the clamour on social media underscores the expectation for bold action at Old Trafford.
