Samuel Chukwueze Sparks AFCON Laughs As Super Eagles Debate New Winning Slogan

As the Super Eagles of Nigeria settle into Morocco ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, confidence is high, the mood is relaxed, and the jokes are already flying. But beneath the laughter lies a serious mission: going one step better than last time.

This time, however, even the team slogan is up for debate.

Chukwueze Checks Bassey’s AFCON Chant 😂

A light-hearted moment between Fulham teammates has gone viral, giving fans a glimpse into the Super Eagles’ camp spirit.

When Calvin Bassey confidently looked into the camera and declared the familiar rallying cry, “Let’s do it again,” Samuel Chukwueze wasted no time shutting it down.

“Let’s do what again? We did not do it the last time,” Chukwueze fired back.
“We reached the final the last time and we lost, so what is ‘let’s do it again’?”

The blunt honesty triggered laughter from teammates Alex Iwobi and Bassey, but it also struck a chord with fans. Nigeria finished runners-up at AFCON 2023, falling just short in the final, and Chukwueze’s point was simple: close isn’t enough anymore.

Sometimes, truth sounds funnier when it’s said out loud.

Banter With A Purpose

While the exchange was playful, it reflects a deeper hunger within the squad. The Super Eagles are not travelling to Morocco to repeat history — they want to rewrite it.

Nigeria’s recent form has been shaky. A frustrating run in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and a friendly defeat to Egypt have increased pressure on head coach Eric Chelle. AFCON 2025 is now more than just a tournament; it’s a chance to reset the narrative.

Group C: No Room For Mistakes

Nigeria will begin their AFCON 2025 campaign in Group C, with a crucial opening match against Tanzania on December 23 at the Fez Stadium.

Upcoming fixtures:

  • Nigeria vs Tanzania – December 23

  • Nigeria vs Tunisia – December 27

  • Nigeria vs Uganda – December 30

Each game is a test, and momentum from the group stage could define the Super Eagles’ entire tournament.

From “Let’s Do It Again” To “Let’s Finish It”

Chukwueze’s viral moment may have been humorous, but it captures the mindset Nigeria needs. Finals are remembered, but trophies are celebrated.

For a generation that came painfully close in 2023, AFCON 2025 is about closure, redemption, and finally lifting the cup. Whether the slogan changes or not, the message is clear: second place is no longer acceptable.

Morocco awaits. The jokes are done. It’s time to actually do it.
