Salomon Kalou Names Top Candidates To Replace Enzo Maresca At Chelsea

Chelsea legend Salomon Kalou has weighed in on speculation surrounding Enzo Maresca’s future at Stamford Bridge, identifying several strong candidates to take over if the Blues were to make a managerial change.

Maresca has enjoyed a promising start to life at Chelsea, guiding the team to a top-four finish last season. The Blues are also in contention for the Premier League title this campaign, currently sitting fourth, eight points behind leaders Arsenal. However, recent inconsistent form — including a four-game winless streak before a return to victory against Everton — has fueled speculation over his future.

Kalou’s Picks

In a recent interview, Kalou emphasized the importance of stability but highlighted names who could step in if the situation called for it.

Frank Lampard
“My former team-mate Frank Lampard is one name that stands out for me. He’s doing amazingly at Coventry right now, showing he’s learned from his previous experiences. He knows Chelsea inside out, he’s a club legend, and with more maturity and tactical growth, he could do well if given another chance,” Kalou said.

Andoni Iraola
Kalou also praised Iraola for his intensity and pressing style in the Premier League. “He’s shown he can adapt quickly and get the best out of his players,” Kalou added, highlighting his suitability for a top-tier club like Chelsea.

Régis Le Bris
The Chelsea icon cited Le Bris as another intriguing option, noting his ability to develop young talent and implement progressive tactics. “He built his reputation at Lorient and is now showing at Sunderland that he can translate those ideas into a different environment,” Kalou said.

Stability Still Key

Kalou was careful to stress that Maresca still has time to turn things around at Chelsea, but if a change were necessary, Lampard, Iraola, and Le Bris would be strong candidates to step in and maintain the club’s competitive edge.

With the Premier League season in full swing, Chelsea supporters will be watching closely to see if Maresca can steer the team back to consistent form — or if one of Kalou’s recommended candidates will get the nod.
