Juventus Urged To Chase Victor Osimhen As Attacking Woes Persist

Juventus may be firmly in the hunt for a Champions League spot, but beneath the surface, a worrying problem continues to haunt the Italian giants: goals.

After 15 Serie A matches, the Bianconeri sit fifth on the table, seven points behind leaders Inter Milan. Even more alarming is their output in front of goal — just 19 goals scored, one of the lowest tallies among the league’s top six sides.

A deeper look makes the situation clearer. Only eight of those goals have come from open play, with the rest arriving via penalties and set pieces. For a club of Juventus’ stature, that statistic raises serious questions.

“Juventus Need An Osimhen-Type Player”

Former Juventus forward Massimo Mauro believes the solution is obvious: sign a dominant striker who can carry the attack.

Speaking via Football Italia, Mauro pointed directly to Victor Osimhen as the kind of player Juventus are missing.

“They need a Napoli-style Osimhen, a driving force who could carry the attack on his own and whom Luciano Spalletti turned into a true leader,” Mauro said.
“Juve are full of solid, above-average players, but they need someone who makes a difference.”

According to Mauro, Juventus’ squad is packed with dependable performers, but lacks that one forward capable of changing games on his own — the type of striker defenders fear before kick-off.

Why Osimhen Fits The Juventus Profile

Osimhen’s rise over the past few seasons has been nothing short of remarkable. The Nigerian international combines pace, power, aerial dominance, and relentless pressing, making him a nightmare for defenders.

At Napoli, he was the focal point of their title-winning attack. At Galatasaray, he is continuing that trend, already scoring 12 goals this season, including a recent strike in a dominant 4–1 win over Antalyaspor.

His ability to create goals from nothing is exactly what Juventus lack — especially in tight matches where structured play breaks down.

Why A Move Won’t Happen Anytime Soon

Juventus were reportedly interested in Osimhen during the summer, but Napoli were unwilling to sell to a direct rival. Instead, the striker completed a record-breaking transfer to Galatasaray, which included a crucial clause blocking a move to Juventus for two years.

That means any potential switch to Turin is off the table until at least the summer of 2027.

Juventus’ Reality Check

Until then, Juventus must find solutions internally. While their defensive structure and midfield control remain strong, modern football rewards teams that can score consistently from open play.

As Mauro rightly points out, being “solid” is no longer enough. To compete with Europe’s elite, Juventus will eventually need a striker who doesn’t just finish chances — but creates belief.

Victor Osimhen fits that profile perfectly. The only problem? For now, he’s out of reach.
