Super Falcons Drop To 37th In Latest FIFA Women’s World Ranking But Still No.1 In Africa
The Super Falcons of Nigeria have dropped one spot to 37th in the latest FIFA Women’s World Ranking released on Thursday. Despite the slight decline on the global stage, the nine-time African champions remain firmly at the top of the continent.
The ranking, published on FIFA’s official website, reflects results from the latest international window. The Super Falcons were not in action during the period, which contributed to their shift from 36th to 37th.
Still the best in Africa
Even with the global drop, Nigeria continues to dominate women’s football in Africa. The Super Falcons sit at the top of the continental standings, ahead of other strong African sides such as:
-
Banyana Banyana of South Africa
-
Black Princesses of Ghana
-
Copper Queens of Zambia
-
Atlas Lionesses of Morocco
This consistent continental lead highlights the team’s long-standing influence and football pedigree, even during transitional phases.
Who tops the world ranking?
Spain retains the world No.1 spot after their remarkable run at the international level. The top five globally are:
-
Spain
-
United States
-
Germany
-
England
-
Sweden
With Nigeria gearing up for future qualifiers and tournaments, all eyes will be on Justine Madugu’s side to see how they bounce back and climb higher in the next FIFA rankings update.
