Wayne Rooney Warns Mohamed Salah: ‘He’s Destroying His Legacy At Liverpool!’

Mohamed Salah has found himself in the center of a storm after launching a fiery outburst toward Liverpool, claiming the club has “thrown him under the bus.” While fans are still trying to process the shock, Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has added fuel to the fire, insisting that Salah is “absolutely destroying his legacy” at Anfield.

Salah’s numbers speak for themselves — over 250 goals, a Champions League title, multiple Golden Boots, and nearly a decade of world-class contributions. But despite signing a fresh two-year deal in 2025, tensions have risen sharply after he was left on the bench for the third straight match.

Following Liverpool’s dramatic 3–3 draw against Leeds, Salah admitted that his relationship with manager Arne Slot has broken down. He even hinted at the possibility of a farewell during Liverpool’s upcoming match against Brighton before leaving for AFCON duty.

Rooney, speaking on his BBC podcast, was stunned by Salah’s comments. He argued that Slot must assert control immediately, saying:
“Arne Slot has to pull him in and say, ‘you’re not traveling with the team.’ What he said is not acceptable.”

Rooney didn’t stop there. He warned that Salah is risking everything he worked hard to build:
“He is absolutely destroying his legacy at Liverpool. It would be sad to see him throw it all away. He’s gone about it all wrong.”

According to Rooney, no player — no matter how legendary — is above fighting for their position. He made it clear that Salah’s statement that he “shouldn’t have to fight for his spot” was not only arrogant but disrespectful to the squad, the manager, and the fans.

Rooney added:
“Time catches up with all of us. This season he hasn’t been at his sharpest. Instead of speaking out, he should roll up his sleeves and show everyone why he deserves to play.”

As the football world debates who is right and who is wrong, one thing is certain — Liverpool’s dressing room will be feeling the tension. Whether Salah can repair his relationship with the club or whether we’re witnessing the beginning of the end remains to be seen.

One thing is clear — this story is far from over.
