Revealed: Tottenham Stance On Sacking Thomas Frank After Arsenal Thumping

Tottenham To Stick With Thomas Frank Despite Heavy Arsenal Loss

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly determined to give head coach Thomas Frank time to succeed, despite a humiliating 4-1 defeat to Arsenal at Emirates Stadium. Spurs have now lost three of their last five Premier League games, dropping to ninth in the table, yet the Dane’s future at the club is not under immediate threat.

Frank Apologises After Spurs Drubbing

Frank admitted he was confident heading into the north London derby, but Arsenal dismantled Spurs with ease, leaving Tottenham with an Expected Goals tally of just 0.07 and only three shots on target.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Frank said:

“I think it is extremely painful. It was a bad performance. It was completely the opposite of the intention we had coming here. We can only apologise to the fans. When the team went long, we didn’t win enough duels. That is exemplified by the 2-0 and 3-0 goals where a player went through two or three of ours. We saw character and fight in the team but didn’t win enough duels.”

Club Confident Despite Tactical Concerns

According to The Telegraph, Tottenham want to allow Frank time to implement his vision, though there are concerns over his frequent squad rotations. Frank has made 29 changes to his starting XI in the Premier League so far, the third-most in the league after Wolves (39) and Chelsea (31).

Some players reportedly feel Frank should focus more on strengths rather than overthinking the opposition, though it’s unclear how widespread this view is. Spurs owners, the Lewis family, are prioritizing long-term stability rather than reacting to short-term results.

Tactical Plans Misfire

Frank tried to replicate tactics previously used in Tottenham’s UEFA Super Cup loss to PSG, but it backfired. He added:

“It’s an extremely hard defeat to take. I was confident we could be competitive, but we weren’t. We changed things at half-time, but no matter the formation, if you don’t win enough duels or aren’t aggressive, it doesn’t matter what formation you play. I take responsibility for my decisions.”

Tottenham fans must now hope Frank can steady the ship and extract the best from his squad as they navigate a challenging Premier League season.
