Victor Osimhen celebrating after scoring for Galatasaray in the Champions League
Victor Osimhen is making waves in the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League, dominating the Player of the Match awards with a stunning start to the season for Galatasaray.
The Nigerian striker has scored six goals in just three Champions League games, including an incredible five goals across his last two matches, cementing his status as one of Europe’s elite forwards.
Osimhen’s standout performance came in a record-breaking win against Ajax, where he netted a hat-trick and was named man of the match. He has now claimed the Player of the Match award in every game he has played this season, a feat unmatched by any other player in the competition.
UEFA Champions League officially recognized his achievement with a graphic titled:
“Most POTM performances so far in 2025/26: Victor Osimhen.”
Following him in the rankings are stars such as Phil Foden, Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappe, and Virgil van Dijk, each with two POTM awards.
Fans and pundits have been quick to laud Osimhen’s dominance:
“The Greatest Striker in the World Right now. The best Striker of Nigeria of All Times. Osimhen is better than Isak, Ekitike, Gyökeres, Martinez, Kane, Mbappe, Šeško, and Haaland.”
“All those Haaland goals and no POTM performance? This is why that Ballon d’Or shout isn’t as strong.”
“Unfortunately, injury will stop him from continuing his impressive form.”
“He deserves to go to a team of the BIG 6 in the Premier League or Barcelona rather than staying at Galatasaray and playing in that weak Turkish league.”
Osimhen’s scoring streak has now extended to eight consecutive European matches, highlighting his consistency and decisive role on the continental stage.
His performances are rapidly solidifying his reputation as one of the top forwards in world football, and many are now calling for a move to a bigger league to match his elite talent.
