Organisers of the Capital City Race Ikeja have announced that two million naira will up for the winners of the second edition.
Holding on Saturday, November 22, the race will start at 7am from Ikeja City Mall and end at the AVMCC Field GRA, Ikeja.
With this year’s theme ‘One Run Many Journey’, CCR serves as a platform that brings people together from all walks of life to participate in an initiative that speaks to their general well-being and a level playing field for runners to continue to hone their skills.
Speaking at the press briefing held at the Conference Room, Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, the Director General Lagos State Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu stated that the event is a direct inspiration of the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and is effectively in line with the THEMES+ agenda.
Fatodu said, “Promoting physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle among our residents is core mandate and is a significant item on the agenda of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration.”
He added that the 10k race presents another exciting moment to promote awareness on healthy lifestyle and a fantastic vehicle for mass participation, community bonding in the heart of Lagos.
Convener of the race, Dapo Ajayi, said the second edition of the Capital City Race inspires fitness, tourism and community unity.
Ajayi noted CCR isn’t about running alone rather, it is showing up, getting started and then pushing through to the finish line that matters.
He acknowledged the contributions of sponsors for their unwavering support, dedication and commitment to a noble initiative in ensuring a healthy lifestyle among the runners.
Winners in both male and female categories will be go home with 500,000 naira each. Second and third place runners will get 300,000 and 200,000 respectively.
