LeBron James has rewritten the NBA record books yet again. On Tuesday night, the 40-year-old superstar became the first player in NBA history to take part in 23 consecutive seasons when he stepped onto the court for the Los Angeles Lakers.
After missing the Lakers’ first 14 games of the season due to sciatica, LeBron returned with a composed, confident display in a 140-126 win over the Utah Jazz. His performance proved that even after two decades at the top, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer still has plenty left to give.
In 30 minutes of action, LeBron delivered 11 points, 12 assists, and three rebounds — and even moved up the all-time three-point ladder. With two made shots from deep, he leapfrogged NBA legend Reggie Miller to become sixth on the list of most three-pointers made.
Luka Doncic, who starred with a game-high 37 points, couldn’t hide his admiration after witnessing LeBron’s historic comeback.
“It’s been a long time since he played basketball, so I think for the first game back, he looked amazing,” Doncic said.
“He’s going to keep getting his rhythm, and help us a lot.”
Doncic led the Lakers with authority, dropping 37 points, four steals, 10 assists and five rebounds. Austin Reaves also contributed 26 points, showcasing the Lakers’ offensive depth.
Despite Utah’s Keyonte George scoring 34 points and Lauri Markkanen adding 31, the Jazz couldn’t slow down the Lakers’ balanced attack. The victory pushes Los Angeles to fourth place in the Western Conference, while the Jazz slip to 10th.
LeBron’s achievement is more than just a number — it’s a testament to longevity, resilience, and elite performance across multiple eras of basketball. From his teenage debut in 2003 to this record-setting moment in 2025, LeBron’s influence on the NBA and the global sports market remains unmatched.
