Senne Lammens Boldly Declares He’s Not Afraid Of Andre Onana’s Legacy As He Plots A Decade At Manchester United

Senne Lammens Is Ready To Make His Mark At Manchester United

When Senne Lammens walked through the doors of Old Trafford, few expected the 23-year-old Belgian to command such confidence. Yet, after just a few games, Manchester United fans are already singing his name — and he’s not shying away from the weight of history.

The young shot-stopper, signed from Royal Antwerp for £18 million on deadline day, has already brought something United desperately needed: calmness. Three games, three wins, one clean sheet — and a defence that suddenly looks steady again.

While some might tremble at the thought of filling the boots of legends like Peter Schmeichel, Edwin van der Sar, or even David de Gea, Lammens is unbothered. “There’s been a lot of commotion about the goalkeepers in recent years,” he said. “I wasn’t worried about that. I want to be someone people look up to. My dream is to play here for the next ten years and build a legacy.”

Learning From The Greats

Lammens has already met Peter Schmeichel — a surreal experience for any United goalkeeper. “He told me to be there for the team, but above all, to be myself,” Lammens recalled. “It was nice to hear that from someone you look up to.”

That advice seems to be paying off. In his first few games, the Belgian has shown composure beyond his years. No over-the-top saves, no dramatics — just clean handling and smart positioning.

Manager Ruben Amorim couldn’t hide his admiration either. “Senne has been great,” Amorim said. “He coped really well with the pressure. He’s not Schmeichel yet — but he’s on the right path.”

Calm, Composed, And Confident

In a club that has seen goalkeepers rise and fall under intense scrutiny, Lammens’ quiet confidence is refreshing. “When things go badly, you’re immediately put down. And when things go well, they praise you to the skies,” he said. “I’m proud of my debut because I radiated calm — and that matters.”

Fans seem to agree. The Stretford End’s chants are getting louder with each save, and though Lammens insists he’s keeping his feet on the ground, he’s already beginning to look like United’s future between the sticks.

Whether he truly becomes a legend will depend on consistency and time — but one thing’s clear: Senne Lammens isn’t afraid of the spotlight. He’s here for the long haul.
