Jamie Carragher Declares Liverpool In Crisis After Fourth Straight Defeat To Brentford

Liverpool’s nightmare run continues as they suffered their fourth consecutive Premier League defeat, falling 3-2 to Brentford in a chaotic match at the Gtech Community Stadium. Despite spending an eye-watering £450 million in the summer transfer window, the reigning champions look a shadow of the side that lifted the title just months ago.

Slot’s Men Struggle As Brentford Deliver A Shock

Goals from Dango Ouattara, Kevin Schade, and Igor Thiago sealed a famous win for Brentford, while Milos Kerkez and Mohamed Salah tried — and failed — to spark a Liverpool comeback.

The result leaves Arne Slot under intense pressure, as his side have now conceded nine goals in their last four matches. Despite Liverpool’s early-season promise, their defensive lapses and lack of control in midfield have exposed worrying cracks in the squad.

Carragher’s Brutal Verdict: “Crisis Time At Liverpool”

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher didn’t mince words when analyzing his former club’s form. Speaking on Sky Sports, he declared:

“To lose four games in a row for a team like Brentford, or a team battling relegation, would be a disaster. But to see the champions lose four games in a row — with the expenditure in the summer — I think we’re in crisis time.”

Carragher also pointed out that Liverpool’s lack of physicality and height is proving costly:

“They’ve spent big, but they look soft. They can’t defend set pieces, and they’re losing battles all over the pitch.”

Slot Admits: “We’ve Been Found Out”

Under-fire manager Arne Slot admitted that rival teams have figured out Liverpool’s style and found effective ways to counter it.

“Teams know how to play against us,” Slot said. “They sit deep, press smartly, and we haven’t found a solution. Conceding early doesn’t help, and our defensive structure just isn’t working right now.”

The Dutchman also acknowledged that the team’s summer overhaul — which saw the arrivals of Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz — has disrupted their rhythm:

“It’s normal when you change a lot in one window that it takes time. But four losses in a row — that’s not acceptable.”

A Costly Summer, A Shaky Defense

Liverpool’s huge £450m summer rebuild was meant to strengthen their squad depth and freshen up an aging core. Instead, it’s led to instability. The backline looks vulnerable, and chemistry between new signings is still lacking.

With rivals like Manchester City and Arsenal pushing ahead, Liverpool’s title defense already looks to be slipping away — unless Slot can find answers fast.

What’s Next For The Reds?

Liverpool must regroup quickly as they prepare for upcoming fixtures against Aston Villa and Tottenham, both of whom are flying high. Another loss could officially end their title hopes before Christmas.

For now, the message from Carragher and the fans is clear:
Liverpool need urgency, leadership, and solutions — before this “crisis” becomes a full-blown collapse.
