SIGA (The Sport Integrity Global Alliance) is ramping up the platform for its month of events, approved by its council in July, under the Sport Integrity Action Month banner.
Evolving from the its Sport Integrity Week that started as a digital-only event in 2020, SIGA said Sport Integrity Action Month “a month-long global action movement, uniting governments, sports bodies, athletes, businesses, media, and civil society. By expanding its scope and duration, Sport Integrity Action Month will significantly amplify impact, accelerate reform, and strengthen accountability across the entire sport ecosystem.”
The format will consist of curated and open-source events across all continents; a global leadership roadshow engaging decision-makers worldwide; and the participation of athletes, youth, innovators, and thought leaders.
Core topics under the sports integrity microscope will include: Good Governance, Anti-corruption and financial integrity; sports betting integrity; youth development, technology, innovation and global business; environmental, social and economic sustainability; athlete voices and digital integrity in sport.
SIGA co-founder and global CEO, Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, said: “Real reform is long overdue – and only through the full adoption of the SIGA Universal Standards and the independent scrutiny provided by SIRVS can sport safeguard its reputation and credibility, and earn the trust it needs and deserves. This is our collective responsibility. This is our shared moment.”
