Fermin Lopez’s future at FC Barcelona has suddenly become a topic of major speculation heading into the final days of the summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old La Masia graduate, who did not get any minutes against Levante last week, has emerged as a serious target for Premier League heavy-spenders Chelsea.
The Blues have been in contact with the Spanish international’s camp and have given him a 48-hour deadline to make a decision.
Bayern Munich, other Premier League clubs also keen
Building on that, Gerard Romero now reports that Chelsea’s interest in Fermin Lopez is ‘very real’.
Moreover, apart from the reigning UEFA Conference League champions, German giants Bayern Munich are also keen on the 22-year-old sensation.
Several other clubs from the Premier League are also keeping tabs on him.
Barcelona, for their part, are not actively trying to sell Fermin, and have no need for his departure. They are very clear – any exit would come only if the player requests it.
Barça head coach Hansi Flick made it clear in the lead-up to the game against Levante that he saw the young attacking midfielder as a key cog in his plans.
However, the La Masia gem did not play a single minute at Ciutat de Valencia, after having started in the La Liga opener vs Mallorca – where he was taken off at half-time as well.
So, as far as the situation goes, the ball is firmly in Fermin’s court and it is up to him to decide whether he stays at Barcelona or opts to move – with Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and some other teams also interested.
