Galatasaray of Turkey striker, Victor Osimhen has opened up at length about the various factors that made him decide to stay put at the Turkish Super Lig champions, stressing that he could not find any reason why he should not stick with them.
Sports247 reports that Osimhen was speaking im the wake of his four year contract that was confirmed last weekend by Galatasaray, following their ageeenent with SSC Napoli of Italy on a full transfer worth €75m for the 2023 African Footballer of The Year.
The former Ultimate Strikers of Lagos, VfL Wolfsburg of Germany, Racing Charleroi of Belgium and Lille Metropole of France hitman admitted that the deal came as a surprise to many of his fans, but confessed that he never thought about any other option all along.
Nigeria’s second highest goal scorer ever in the national team’s history also revealed how the love that his daughter and every other member of his family have for Galatasaray also made the decision come easier for him.
Osimhen noted, “It was earlier than a lot of people expected; but it was something I needed to decide due to a lot of factors.
“But, to be honest, I had already associated myself with Gala and the fans because my daughter is more inclined to the club than I am.
“Every time she speaks about me, she mentions chi-bum-bum, the three stars, and sings the song of Gals.
“So, apart from the fans, who drew me with the love and passion they have for their club, my daughter was key in making this decision much easier for me.
“To be honest, all my family love Gala. So, I can’t see a reason for me not to be here.”
Osimhen, who will earn a basic salary of €15m and get paid an extra €1m for his image rights, added that he already feels at home with the Istanbul-based outfit that he helped win a Turkish double while playing on loan fron Napoli last season and he now wants to achieve more as their substantive player.
“I call this club my home, and I believe that I’ll enjoy myself until I’m not needed here any longer. For now, I like this place, I love this place.
“I love the people for the love they’ve shown me and the confidence they’ve given me; not just as a player but also as a man. I can’t wait to continue giving my best for the good of the club,” Osimhen disclosed.
