United States goalkeeper Matt Turner has joined Lyon on a permanent transfer from Nottingham Forest.
The 31-year-old joined Forest from Arsenal in August 2023 and made 21 appearances in all competitions before being replaced as first-choice goalkeeper by Matz Sels.
Turner spent last season on loan at Crystal Palace, and though he did not make a Premier League appearance at Selhurst Park, he was part of the squad that beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium.
He joined Arsenal from Major League Soccer side New England Revolution in 2022, and made seven appearances in all competitions as understudy to Aaron Ramsdale.
Turner joins Ligue 1 side Lyon, who last month successfully appealed against relegation to France’s second tier because of financial issues.
Turner has been capped 52 times by the United States, though he was an unused substitute during their run to the final of the 2025 Gold Cup.
Turner follows Anthony Elanga, Danilo, Ramon Sosa and Andrew Omobamidele in leaving the City Ground this summer.
