Galatasaray of Turkey new signing, Victor Osimhen has disclosed that he wants to quickly put behind him massive celebrations that followed his formal unveiling by the Turkish Super Lig champions, as he wants to focus on achieving the club owners’ objectives.
Sports247 reports that the Super Eagles’ striker was full of excitement and delight after the official confirmation of his full contract with the Istanbul-based outfit, and he thanked everyone who made it possible.
He declared heartily, “I don’t know the words to use to explain (but) I feel so great to be back here.
“Look at the crowd, look at the people that followed my flight. I’m home … this is where I want to be.”
Having spent a successful debut season on loan at the club that bailed him out of a career logjam when SSC Napoli of Italy blocked several offers for him last summer, Osimhen admitted he owes gratitude to Gala, where he believes he is safe and at home.
The former Ultimate Strikers of Lagos, VfL Wolfsburg of Germany, Racing Charleroi of Belgium and Lille Metropole of France hitman added: “I’m happy that I’m able to be here, back to where I feel safe.
“(This is) where I feel is home for myself, my family and my friends. I want to take the opportunity to thank the president of Gala, the vice-president and everyone who has contributed to make sure that I come back to my home.
“I want to say a big thank you to my fans who proved that they wanted me in the club. They showed that they needed me, as much as I want them also, and I’m happy to be here.”
Osimhen, who notched 26 Lig goals and 37 across all competitions last season, admitted that many other clubs wooed him to join them, but declared emphatically that the only thought for him was about Galatasaray, where he now aims to continue hitting the bullseye.
“The story continues, and I’m happy to continue at Galatasaray. It’s only Gala, only Gala that has been my mindset for a while now and since the start of this year.”
“I just want to be focused. To make sure we achieve the objective, our coach and the club have set for us.”
“When we achieve that, we’ll sit down together to look at everything, and everyone will judge. For now, I’m just happy to be here and, to be honest, I cannot describe the feeling,” Osimhen concluded gleefully.
Sports247 gathered that Osimhen is already planning how to justify the record Turkish transfer fee of €75m that Galatasaray paid Napoli for his signature, €40m of which was paid upfront.
The 26-year-old striker will receive a net guaranteed salary of €15m for each of the four seasons of the full contract, which replaces an initial loan deal with which he joined Gala last August.
He will also receive a ‘loyalty bonus’ of €1m per season as well as €15 for image rights payments that cover promotional events in which his name and face are used.
