FC Barcelona have officially announced they have signed an agreement with the government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) on a four-year partnership that will see the African country’s tourism promotion logo featured on some of the club’s training apparel.
“FC Barcelona and the Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) announce a four-year strategic agreement with the aim of promoting football and the culture of sport and peace,” the statement read.
“This agreement represents a shared commitment to fostering multi-sport development within the DRC.”
While the official communication does not disclose financial details, the club is expected to receive approximately €44 million from the Congolese government across four seasons.
All of Barcelona’s professional teams will wear the “RD Congo – Cœur de l’Afrique” emblem on the back of their training shirts through the 2028–2029 season.
As part of the agreement, the Spotify Camp Nou will host the ‘House of the DRC’ on its premises. This space will showcase “the richness and diversity of Congolese cultural and sporting heritage through interactive exhibitions, aiming to strengthen ties with the African nation.”
Barcelona also announced that through its Barça Academies, it will launch and develop a sports activity programme, including camps and clinics, for children in the region.
These will promote structured and inclusive development across key sports: football, basketball, handball, futsal, and roller hockey.
