Barca In Renewal Talks With 26-Year-Old Player’s Agent

FC Barcelona have dedicated this summer transfer window towards reinforcing the squad. Their aspirations remain high, but they must be matched with the right kind of planning. Fortunately, Barcelona have a strong enough squad already that does not need a lot of additions.

Even at the moment, beyond the signing of Joan Garcia, the club is primarily focusing on ensuring the arrival of a new left-winger. At the moment, however, it seems increasingly likely that the signing of such a player could take until August to fully resolve.

Until then, Barcelona can dig deeper into some internal matters and operations that need a solution. One such type of operation is linked to player renewals, and it is a fundamental piece of the puzzle that Barça does not want to simply gloss over.

Barcelona hold meeting with Kounde’s agent
On that note, according to the information provided by SPORT, Barcelona recently held an informal meeting with Jonathan Kebe, the agent of French defender Jules Kounde. Reportedly, they discussed various topics during the meeting and one of those topics was the player’s renewal.

Currently tied down to the club until 2027, Kounde still has essentially two more years left on his deal with the club. However, both the club and the player’s camp have remained in contact over the last few months about a possible extension and improvement of contractual terms.

For Barcelona, there is simply no doubt about the player’s quality and their own commitment to him. That is why, as per this report, Barcelona made it clear to the player’s agent that his place at the club was not in question and that he continues to remain fully backed.

Other renewals are also being addressed
Eventually, the club plans to get to his renewal and figure it out completely. However, they will neither rush that operation for now nor will they look to delay it. In time, Barcelona hopes to extend the 26-year-old Frenchman’s stay at the Catalan club.

As for renewals in general, La Blaugrana have already renewed the contract of Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny. Moreover, with Garcia’s arrival and Szczesny’s renewal, the whole issue regarding German goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen is also something that needs to be resolved soon.
