Besiktas have made a significant statement in the transfer market as they look to support manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær in his quest for silverware next season. After guiding the club to a fourth-place finish in the Turkish Super Lig last term, Solskjær is under pressure to elevate Besiktas into serious title contention, and the club has responded by backing him with a high-profile signing.
Following a disappointing campaign in which Besiktas finished behind Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and the surprise package Samsunspor, expectations remain high among supporters. The club will compete in the UEFA Europa League next season, but the ultimate objective remains clear: to reclaim domestic dominance and secure the league title.
Tammy Abraham Joins to Strengthen the Attack
As reported by VG, Besiktas have completed the signing of Tammy Abraham from AS Roma, providing Solskjær with an experienced striker to lead the line. Abraham spent last season on loan at AC Milan but struggled for consistency, partly due to recovery from a serious injury. His move to Turkiye represents an important opportunity for the forward to rebuild form and confidence at a crucial stage of his career.
The English striker had previously impressed in Serie A, particularly during his first season at Roma, and Besiktas will be hoping he can rediscover that level in the Super Lig. Given his physical presence, finishing ability and top-level experience, Abraham could prove a valuable addition to the squad, particularly with European football on the horizon.
Solskjær Faces Pressure to Deliver
This transfer also reflects Besiktas’ ambition under Solskjær’s leadership. The former Man Utd manager, who has a strong pedigree from his time at Old Trafford, is expected to challenge for trophies in the upcoming season. Abraham’s arrival is a clear sign that the club is willing to invest in quality to support their manager’s vision and deliver results.
A strong showing in Turkiye could also reignite Abraham’s prospects of a return to the Premier League, making this a pivotal campaign for both the player and the club.
