Ansu Fati’s Monaco Move Stalls Over Wage Dispute
With Ansu Fati set to depart from FC Barcelona this summer, a move to AS Monaco has been heavily touted over the past few weeks.
The Ligue 1 outfit are eager to sign the 22-year-old La Masia forward and have been locked in talks with the Catalans over the terms of the agreement.
Ansu exit operation stalls
However, as per the latest update from L’Equipe (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Ansu Fati’s future remains uncertain, with negotiations between Barcelona and Monaco – the club that had been closest to securing his transfer – now stalled.
The impasse stems from Monaco’s stance. The team managed by Adi Hutter has made it clear what portion of Ansu’s salary they are willing to take on and are not prepared to change their position.
Monaco are leveraging the fact that their attacking line is already well covered.
The Ligue 1 giants do not feel an urgent need to add Fati, despite the fact that both the Barcelona No. 10 and Paul Pogba had been seen as marquee signings this summer transfer window.
It remains to be seen how this standoff between the two clubs will unfold as talks continue between them to unlock the situation.
For now, reports indicate that Monaco’s position is firm and unchanging, which continues to delay the green light for the Barça youth academy graduate’s move to the French league.
