Milan have sold Tijjani Reijnders and wish to do the same with Theo Hernandez, but Massimiliano Allegri want to keep Rafael Leao and Mike Maignan, even though they are in demand. Chelsea tried to sign the goalie, while Bayern Munich have approached the winger.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Rossoneri have rebuffed every bid for their attacker. They made it clear that they weren’t interested in any makeweight. The counterparty dangled quality players like Kim Min-Jae and Leon Goretzka. The Portuguese international has a €175M release clause. The team would contemplate a 180 only with offers north of €100M.
While Milan are in control concerning Leao, they’d be rolling the dice if Maignan stayed. His contract runs out in 2026, and the negotiations to renew it have taken a turn for the worse. Still, Allegri and Igli Tare believe they could change his mind next season if he didn’t leave, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
The goalkeeper lost trust in the brass due to how the talks were conducted. The initial offer was eventually lowered. Chelsea attempted to exploit the impasse during the first summer window. While the star was keen on departing, the Rossoneri held onto him.
Our Take on Milan, Leao, and Maignan
They surely did their due diligence on the latter and must have learnt that a decent replacement would have cost more than his goalie’s current price tag. It’d be a big risk, but having two new decision-makers gives them legitimate hope to come to terms eventually. Plus, he’s not a premier asset given his age. As for their forward, it’s hard to imagine anybody, except perhaps Saudi sides, will lodge huge offers given his inconsistency.
