According to Sky Sport Italia, Como are in advanced negotiations with FC Toulouse for England Under-21 international Charlie Cresswell.
The central defender turns 23 in August and is currently playing in the England squad for the European Under-21 Championship.
The asking price had been circa €25m, with an initial offer of €15m rejected, but it is claimed they could shake hands at €17m.
There had also been interest in the centre-back within Serie A from the likes of Bologna, Lazio and Fiorentina.
Cresswell heading to Serie A this summer
A product of the Leeds United youth academy, he also had a loan spell at Millwall before the transfer to Toulouse last summer.
That was at a cost of €4.5m, so his value has sky-rocketed following a season in Ligue 1 where he made 31 appearances, scoring three goals with one assist.
Como earned their promotion to Serie A last summer after several decades in the wilderness and secured their status, resisting Inter pressure for coach Cesc Fabregas.
They already brought in talented midfielder Martin Baturina from Dinamo Zagreb.
