Ude Calls For More Support For Nigeria’s Women’s Cricket

Nigerian women’s cricket team, Yellow-Greens’ all-rounder Lillian Ude, has sent out a clarion call for more support to boost their ongoing search for honours at the Kwibuka13 Championship in Kigali, Rwanda.

Sports247 reports that The Yellow-Greens raised hope high for better days ahead of them when they defeated Sierra Leone by 36 runs on Sunday, but Ude admitted they would need to put in more effort to win their next two games.

Having earlier lost to Zimbabwe, Rwanda and Tanzania, Ude and her colleagues appeared to get back on track with victories over Cameroon and Sierra Leone, following which the amiable lass admitted she was relieved and excited.

The energetic all-rounder expressed satisfaction with their victory over Sierra Leone, which she noted came through dint of hard work by all the Nigerian players, but buttressed that they will need a lot of support to overcome Malawi on Tuesday and Uganda on Wednesday.

Ude declared, “We all tried our best, which led to this result. So, I felt relieved. Even when we were having hard times, we kept going.

“Though the pendulum swung to the other team, it still came back to us, and we tried to hold our end. We did our best in basically everything.”

She then projected into their forthcoming games and confessed that the Nigerian squad has to work on key areas in order to stand any chance against the formidable East African duo who are lying ominously ahead of them this week.

“Basically, in batting, fielding and bowling, we have to work on everything. We grow day by day, and we learn every day. That’s why I’m happy for my team. I love them and I’m proud of them.

“I also love the fans. I just hope they will keep supporting us … even when we are at our lowest. They should keep supporting us, not only when we are doing our best, and we’ll make sure to do them proud,” Ude pledged.
