All preparations are in place for the 2nd edition of the U17 Lycee Francais Louis Pasteur (LFLP) Taekwondo Championship, with over 180 young athletes confirmed to participate.
This is a remarkable increase in participation compare to 54 in its inaugural edition.
The event scheduled for Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the Basketball Court of the Lycee Francais Louis Pasteur School in Victoria Island, Lagos, with a start time of 8:00 AM.
The championship, organized by Body Dynamics, has experienced a significant surge in interest and logistical support, with a couple of corporate brands associating with the vision of the organiser.
The competition which made his debut in 2024 is officially sanctioned by the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation (NTF).
“We are incredibly proud of how far this event has come in just one year,” Thursdaline Peter, CEO of Body Dynamics, told Sports247.
“The excitement and commitment from the kids, parents, and coaches are inspiring.”
Thursdaline added:
” This year, we’re introducing official junior and weight classifications in line with global standards, which marks a significant step forward in the development of youth Taekwondo in Nigeria”.
The championship aims to consolidate the success of the first edition, promoting youth development, discipline, and talent discovery within the sport across Nigeria.
With rapidly growing interest and finalized logistics, the championship is gradually taking its place as an annual landmark event in the local Taekwondo calendar.
