There are strong indications that Team Lagos will deliver an exceptional performance at the 22nd National Sports Festival (NSF), tagged the ‘Gateway Games’, as the state’s athletes are reportedly well-prepared, highly motivated, and ready to make Lagos proud.
With over 650 athletes representing Lagos across all 40 team and individual sports, expectations are high for the contingent at the nation’s premier sporting event, which kicked off this weekend in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The Lagos State delegation departed for the festival on Friday, receiving an inspiring send-off from top state officials.
The Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu, and the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, were on hand to encourage the athletes and officials, urging them to deliver outstanding performances and uphold the spirit of excellence that Lagos is known for.
Fatodu expressed strong confidence in the team’s readiness and commitment, noting that the athletes had undergone rigorous preparation and were driven by a deep sense of pride and responsibility.
“Our athletes are set to deliver their best ever performance. They are well trained, fully motivated, and ready to raise the bar higher than ever before,” he stated.
The National Sports Festival serves as a platform for discovering and showcasing emerging talents, and Team Lagos appears more determined than ever to dominate the medal table and surpass past records.
With unity, resilience, and the backing of the state’s leadership, the Gateway Games may indeed mark a defining moment in Lagos’ sporting history.
