Aina Lists Ronaldo, Isak, And A Super Eagles Teammate As His Toughest Foes

Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest full-back, Ola Aina, has named Cristiano Ronaldo, Alexander Isak and Victor Osimhen as the three toughest opponents he’s played against.

The 28-year-old defender has been one of Forest’s stand out stars this season, playing in every game for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side before picking up a calf injury against Manchester United.

Aina has scored two goals and provided an assist in 31 league games this campaign as he looks to help his side secure European football for the first time in the 21st century.

1.Cristiano Ronaldo
Aina played against the five-time Ballon d’Or winner during his time at at Torino, often featuring against Ronaldo in the Turin derby, and the Forest defender remarked his ability to read the game was impressive.

“He doesn’t do all the tricks and flair he used to when he was younger, but he still has the movement. He knows when to move and how to read the game. So, playing against him was difficult, and just the fact that he’s Ronaldo,” the ex-Chelsea said in an interview with ESPN.

2. Alexander Isak
The Newcastle United forward has been in fine form this season, scoring 23 goals and providing six assists in 32 games for the Magpies this season. Aina described the Swedish lad as a complete player.

“He’s a good forward. He’s got a bit of everything you know. He’s not slow, he’s got technique and he can shoot as well, he can find a pass. He up there.”

3. Victor Osimhen
Aina’s final pick was his Super Eagles teammate, Victor Osimhen. The Galatasaray striker is one of the most sought-after forwards in Europe. He not only guarantees goals, but also presses relentlessly.

“He doesn’t give you any time to breathe, and as a defender, if you have a striker that’s unto you and relentless, it becomes jarring.

Aina also added that he loves to watch several players in the football world at the moment, specifically including Ademola Lookman, Cole Palmer and Alex Iwobi.

In all, the ex-Torino man admitted he doesn’t let people’s praise but into his head despite the exploits he’s achieved with Nottingham Forest this season.

“Ademola is up there, I can’t lie, and my brother, Iwobi, he’s having a good season.

“I don’t let the criticism or praise get to me. You know how football is. Can’t get too high, can’t get too low,” he concluded.

Nottingham Forest are currently 6th on the English Premier League table, three points beneath the top five clubs.
