Full Details: Tottenham Hotspur Set To Land Super Eagles Striker

Tottenham Hotspur, two-time winners of the English Premier League, is interested in finalizing a deal for Victor Okoh Boniface, a forward for Bayer 04 Leverkusen and the Super Eagles, as reported by Soccernet.ng.

In his debut season, the 24-year-old found the back of the net 21 times and set up nine assists across 34 matches. His remarkable performance helped lead Die Werkself to an unbeaten campaign, clinching both the German Bundesliga title and the DFB Pokal.

As per Give Me Sport, Tottenham Hotspur could win the race to sign Boniface as Bayer Leverkusen are open to parting ways with the Nigerian.

Ange Postecoglou’s side are not short of attacking options as they have Son Heung-Min, Brennan Johnson, James Maddison, Richarlison, Timo Werner, Dominic Solanke and Mathys Tel.

However, the quality up front is telling.

Spurs are currently 16th on the English Premier League table in what has been a dreadful season, even by their own standards. Their only chance of salvaging anything this season is in the UEFA Europa League, where they take on Boniface’s former side, Bodo/Glimt, in the semi-final.

As per the Boy Hotspur, Tottenham are aware of Boniface’s willingness to exit the Bay Arena after he was on their shortlist about a year ago before they signed Solanke from Bournemouth. It is believed that Boniface will be willing to walk the moment Xabi Alonso leaves Leverkusen.

The eight-time FA Cup winners face stiff competition for Boniface as West Ham United are also monitoring the services of the 24-year-old forward.

Should Victor Boniface join Tottenham Hotspur?

If he wants to win trophies? Maybe not. Spurs have barely had any success in nearly two decades of top-flight football, with their last trophy coming in the 2007/2008 season when they won the Carabao Cup.

The opportunity to move to the Premier League might be exciting for the former Union Saint-Gilloise striker as he’s entering the peak years of his career, but he’s made it clear he does not want to play in England; instead, a move to Spain appeals more to Boniface.

Additionally, he’ll only be at the London Stadium to provide competition for Solanke, not to become an outright starter.

Boniface’s potential move to the Saudi Pro League collapsed during the winter transfer window, hinting that if the financial package is right, he might move to the Premier League after all.

Still, it’ll be interesting to see where the goalscorer winds up when he decides to wrap up his spell in the German Bundesliga.
